What is a Connect Group?
We were all designed with a desperate need for community in our hearts. When we look at the book of Genesis in the Bible, we see how God spoke about Adam’s need for a helper, someone to walk alongside him and help him. If we all took a minute to evaluate our lives, we would see that we can’t do it all on our own and that we need help to just live life. They are not a replacement for a relationship with God, but they are there to help each of us grow to more like Jesus. Connect groups consist of 8-12 believers who meet weekly to do life together. These groups are designed to cultivate Christ-centered friendships that encourage, challenge, and focus our lives towards a growing relationship with Jesus.
What is the purpose of a Connect Group?
We designed Connect Groups to mimic what the Bible teaches about community. (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 10:24-25; Colossians 3:12-17) We see Christ-centered community looking like this:
S – serving together
T – training in Biblical application
E – extending care to one another
P – planting new groups
S – sharing generously
We believe that through Connect Groups, Jesus should become more evident in our lives and in the lives of those around us. Sunday morning services are great and lives change there too, but it’s in community where we believe the most life change can happen. There’s something amazing that happens when you hang around a group of people who were once strangers, have now have become family, and who challenge you to constantly look more like Jesus.
Why should I join a Connect Group?
We were created to live in community. Community protects us from being isolated and vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. 1 Peter 5:8 tells us that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
